Meg & Ben’s Summer wedding at Pylewell Park in Lymington, Hampshire – 30th July 2022
Last Summer I had the absolute honour of documenting Meg & Ben’s stunning wedding at Pylewell Park in Lymington. This beautiful historic country house exhibits a long sweeping drive, acres of pristine gardens and a private beach with views across the Solent to the Isle of Wight. All of this is exclusively available for each wedding that Pylewell Park hosts and they encourage each couple to make it their own.
On our initial Zoom call it was lovely to chat to Meg & Ben about their proposal story and what they had planned so far for their big day, they also introduced me to their gorgeous cockapoo Kobe! We talked about the theme for their day and how they were wanting to incorporate black accents throughout including the suits and bridesmaid dresses which sounded super modern, stylish and elegant.
Pre wedding photo shoot in Hampshire
For Meg & Ben’s pre wedding photo shoot we headed over to the gorgeous village of Stockbridge in Hampshire. Meg had mentioned that they’d like to have their photos taken somewhere nice and quiet away from lots of people as Ben was a little camera shy. This location was the perfect spot as it’s right on the river and it never gets very busy as it’s right in the countryside which meant that Meg & Ben could relax and enjoy their session.
Morning Preparations at Pylewell Park Hampshire
On the morning of Meg and Ben’s wedding the entire bridal party were able to prepare for the wedding in different parts of the house, which meant that I could nip between both rooms as everyone got ready. Another great plus about Pylewell weddings is that you have use of the main house for 2 nights. This allows you to arrive the day before to set everything up so that when you wake up on the morning of your wedding everything is ready to go and all you need to do is sit back and relax as you prepare.
Meg and her girls had their hair and makeup done by the amazing DCMUA and Bridal Hair In Hampshire in Pylewell Park’s stunning bridal suite whilst the boys prepared upstairs in the penthouse. This bridal suite is a little bit special to say the least. It includes a gorgeous four poster bed, twin copper top baths overlooking the grounds and its large windows allow lots of natural light to flood into the room which is perfect for hair & makeup artists as well as your wedding photographers and videographers.
Ben and his boys prepared for the ceremony in Pylewell Park’s self contained 3 bedroom penthouse. This space ensures that both partners can get ready separately on the big day. The penthouse has 3 large bedrooms, a living area, its own kitchen and an incredible roof terrace with breathtaking sea views. The Wedding Ceremony
Meg & Ben chose to say I do outside under Pywell Park’s impressive sail structure. This gorgeous modern canopy can seat up to 150 guests and offers plenty of shade on a hot summer’s day.
Once the ceremony had concluded, myself and the brilliant team at Pylewell helped create a confetti tunnel for Meg and Ben to walk through and be greeted by their guests. Pylewell Park House offers the perfect backdrop for this as you can see!
Reception drinks and canapés were served outside where their wedding guests were able to enjoy the sunshine and the beautiful views over the Solent. During this July 2022 wedding we experienced some very high temperatures throughout the day however the outdoor bar situated under the large shady oak tree kept all of their guests cool and well hydrated! Meg & Ben were able to have their family portraits taken nearby in front of the main house which created a picture perfect backdrop.
Afternoon couple portraits – Wedding Photographer Pylewell Park
Pylewell Park estate offers so many amazing backdrops for wedding photographs. The historic house itself looks so magical and oozes English charm. During this portrait session Meg & Ben were able to enjoy fifteen minutes alone together to let everything sink in. This gorgeous couple have such an infectious connection and playful energy between them which was such a joy to capture.
The Wedding Breakfast – Pylewell Park Pavilion
Meg & Ben’s wedding breakfast was held in the Pavilion at Pywell. This bespoke built marquee hybrid has all you need including a built-in bar, bathrooms and a kitchen, as well as a floor-to-ceiling glass front with views. As you can see Meg & Ben chose some lovely table decor & elements to make it unique and their amazing florist We Are Nudo did an incredible job at making the space look really elegant.
Sunset photos at Pylewell Park
At sunset Meg & Ben and I headed to the quieter field at the back of the house to capture a few more portraits at golden hour. Even though the sun didn’t want to come out for us I was still able to capture some lovely moments between them and the long grass created a different look from the portraits that they had taken earlier in the day. I played their first dance song (John Legend – You & I) on my portable speaker and they were able to have a quiet moment alone together and practice before rejoining their guests. I love doing this for my couples as I think it’s so important to have time out together on your special day.
The Evening Reception – Pylewell Park
In the evening the pavilion gets transformed and guests are able to sit and relax outside and enjoy alfresco cocktails when they’re not on the dance floor (or dancing around the pavilion in a conga line like in the photo below!) The festoon lighting, fire pits and stylish outside space create a gorgeous setting for a summer wedding.
