Clock Barn Wedding, Whitchurch, Hampshire

Sophie & James’ beautiful summer wedding at Clock Barn in the town of Whitchurch in Hampshire on 30th June 2022.

This stunning Barn, located in the beautiful Hampshire countryside, offers endless opportunities for your wedding photographs. The team at Clock Barn are amazing, and after photographing Sophie & James’ wedding here it’s clear to see that they help you plan every detail to perfection. Sophie and James chose Clock Barn to celebrate their big day as they both fell in love with the idyllic countryside setting. They were also looking for a wedding venue which was located close to their hometown of Overton.

Sophie and James contacted me in June 2020 to discuss capturing their wedding day at Clock Barn. We met via a Zoom call in lockdown and it was so lovely to hear all about their love story, how they met and what they had planned so far for their wedding. We also spoke about their hobbies and interests which included walking their lovely Springer Spaniel Rosie in the local countryside and their passion for health and wellbeing.

Sophie and James chose me to be their wedding photographer as they loved my natural, relaxed and romantic wedding photography style. It also really appealed to them that I offer a complimentary pre wedding photo session to help them feel at ease in front of the camera before their big day as they were both a little camera shy.

Pre Wedding Photo Session, Hampshire

We held Sophie & James’ pre wedding photoshoot in the Spring as they both love the countryside and wanted to incorporate a yellow rapeseed field to match the decor in their home. The week of their photoshoot had been very wet, however we were determined to go ahead as Sophie had booked her hair and makeup trial for the same day with

Luckily, the evening stayed dry and we were blessed with lovely soft light. We started the photo session down by the river in Broughton which is such a great location as it’s usually super quiet down there and offers gorgeous views of the River Test.

When Sophie and James arrived at our meet point they looked absolutely fabulous, their outfits really complimented each other and reflected their personalities. Every couple who book with me will receive a comprehensive Wedding Photography Guide which includes a helpful Style Guide for outfit inspiration.

After spending some time at the river we then jumped in our cars and headed to this stunning rapeseed field near Clock Barn. I love to incorporate the seasons and landscape into my photography and always keep an eye on what’s in bloom throughout the year. Bringing the yellow rapeseed into the foreground creates a lovely dreamy feel to the image below.

Sophie and James had mentioned to me during our initial chat that they were a little camera shy. During the session I was able to help them feel comfortable and relaxed in front of the camera by showing them some casual poses and fun prompts to create natural smiles & expressions. Some of these prompts included piggy backs, sitting by the river, a running race and asking them to whisper things to each other to create natural laughter between them. They had absolutely nothing to worry about, as you can see they were both absolute naturals in front of the camera!

I discovered fairly early in this session that Sophie and James had such a gorgeous playfulness between them that I really wanted to bring out and capture, so we ended the shoot with a running race in the field tracks which they loved as they are both really into their fitness.

A lovely message from Sophie & James after receiving their Together Session images:

“We were surprised at how much we enjoyed it and didn’t feel uneasy, as we had expected. We are completely blown away by the photos, you have captured us perfectly and we absolutely love them! The online platform is really easy to use, super professional and we have ordered a couple of prints, thank you, we will definitely put these out on the day! Can’t thank you enough.”

The Wedding Day – Clock Barn, Whitchurch

Morning Preparations at the Clock Barn, Tufton Warren.

The morning wedding preparations began at The Stables which is Clocks Barns signature bridal suite. This bridal suite is perfect as it has everything that you need including plenty of space for you and your wedding party to get ready together, plenty of natural light, large mirrors and well-placed lighting.

As you can see in the below image, there is a separate room within the stables which allows the bride to get dressed in private. This is also a lovely location to photograph the hanging of the dress as well as the big dress reveal. Clock Barn has thought through every tiny detail and this is the perfect place to get married in Whitchurch.

Throughout the grounds of Clock Barn the gardens are very well maintained and provide lots of luscious green backdrops. The large garden in the courtyard is the perfect place for group photos with your wedding party.

The wedding ceremony – James & Sophie – The Clock Barn

Sophie & James’ marriage ceremony was held in the traditional Main Barn. They decorated the rustic beams with crisp white bunting and fairy lights which gave the barn an extra special feel and wow factor when you walked in.

This room is light & bright and flooded with lots of natural light which means that your photographer / videographer won’t need to set up any additional lighting or have to use any flash photography during your ceremony.

At the end of the ceremony Sophie & James walked down the aisle and were greeted with a glass of champagne at the end. They were then able to spend 5 minutes alone together before being showered with confetti by their family & friends.

The courtyard is the perfect place for loved ones to congratulate the happy couple and capture group photos. As refreshments are all served in the same place it makes it easy to gather family members together whilst your other guests enjoy their drinks & canapes.

Romantic Portraits – Clock Barn

Clock Barn has endless options in terms of backdrops for your couple portraits, you really are spoilt for choice. We started Sophie & James’ couple session by taking a short stroll just outside the venue grounds to give them a bit of privacy away from their guests. Below you can see just how much variety there is within just a one minute walk away.

We then returned to the venue grounds and incorporated the Stables Barn & well kept gardens. As you can see below the lavender looked stunning in June! It only took 30 mins to capture so  many different images which is why I really enjoy photographing at Clock Barn as it offers so much variety.

The Wedding Breakfast

The Main Barn gets completely transformed for the wedding breakfast at Clock Barn. Sophie & James really put their stamp on making it their own by including lots of personal touches to their tables. The exceptional food at Clock Barn is served by their fantastic on site catering team.

Golden Hour Photos

After their meal Sophie & James were able to enjoy 15 minutes alone together in the Paddock for their golden hour photos. The Paddock is set away from the Main Barn which makes it a great location for photos as it offers you a little privacy away from your guests. The long grass creates a dreamy countryside feel as you can see below.

Golden hour is the last hour before the sun sets. It’s well worth scheduling a golden hour session into your wedding day as the light is super flattering and it’s another perfect opportunity to have a little time to soak in all those wedding day feels!

The wedding reception at Clock Barn, Whitchurch

In the evening, the Main Barn turns into the ultimate dance floor. James & Sophie had an epic first dance which set the scene for the night. If you’re looking for the ultimate Barn wedding venue in the countryside, I would highly recommend Clock Barn, the team are amazing and really look after their couples covering every tiny detail.  If you would like to contact Clock Barn about getting married please contact Lauren and click below or email
